On 27Jan18, an army  convoy at Ganaupura in Shopian came under unprovoked and intense stone pelting by a mob of  250 plus stone pelters. Traitors caused extensive damage to army vehicles and tried to set them on fire. A junior commissioned officer in the convoy got hit on the head and fell unconscious suffering serious injury. The mob tried to lynch the army personnel and snatch his weapon. Extreme gravity forced the army  to open fire in self defence to prevent lynching of the JCO and burning of Government vehicle by the mob. Seven army men suffered injuries and extensive damage caused to eleven vehicles. In the process two civilians succumbed to the bullet injuries. Surprisingly J&K has lodged FIR naming Major Aditya of 10 Garhwal Rifles, who was not even present there, for murder under section 320. I attended out of curiosity many majmas  selling taviz - selling false hopes, false dreams, illusions and lies selling through taviz to gullible gathering with their eloquent theatrics - yes only by talking. I saw people -- young and old getting drawn to such majmas holding currency notes in their hands to buy a taviz that would end their problems. I used to be a part of the crowd to see how gullible the people can be! I was never given a taviz on any occasion as I happened to ask the taviz sellers disturbing questions to reason with me. Their own men already planted in the crowd would either politely ask or sometimes even threatened me to leave the place. You have guessed me right as to where I intend to arrive. Kolkata High Court sternly posed this very pertinent question to Mamata Banerjee, the CM of West Bengal and thereby ordered her government to reverse the decision of postponing the day of immersion of Durga Idols.
