FRANCE -- THE NEW TSARS OF FOOTBALL

France defeated Croatia 4-2 in a six-goal thrilling FIFA World Cup 2018 final to clinch their first title in 20 years, their second overall. Goals from Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and an own goal by Mario Mandzukic is what led Les Bleus to the World Cup Football 2018 title . Croatia managed to equalise through Ivan Perisic in the first half, but failed to capitalise on the opportunity as the French dominated. However, Modric's men got some consolation after Mario Mandzukic scored the nation's second goal, which was too little too late. In a match that had a bit of everything, Mario Mandzukic scored the first ever own goal in a World Cup final to put France in front at the Luzhniki Stadium, only for Ivan Perisic to equalise. France back in front after Perisic’s handball was penalised with the aid of the video assistant referee. Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe scored the other French goals in the second half. The first team to score four times in a ...

FALL OF TITANS ON FIFA 2018

FIFA World Cup 2018 will be remembered as full of surprizes and upsets. It has been one of the most unpredictable and thrilling international tournaments in a long time; Spain 3-3 Portugal, South Korea 2-0 Germany, etc. One might have expected - or hoped - that this would continue into the Round of Sixteen, but the predictable has reigned supreme instead. Nothing sums this up better than Portugal’s loss to Uruguay, where the game acquiesced to the defensive excellence of La Celeste as they continually repelled the Seleccao’s foreseeable attacks. And just when you thought that the game might flip on its head with Pepe’s goal, Uruguay stung Portugal on the break and effectively ended the contest. So we saw the fall of major stalwarts like defending champion Germany, Cristiano Ronaldo backed Portugal, Messi led Argentina and also the fall of a Titan -- Brazil, wherein much hyped Neymar was not of much help to carry the team on his lone back. The emergence of talents from countries...

Current Status of NPAs in Indian Banks

These days banks as well as the govt are grappling hard to deal with the problem of Non Performing Asset (NPA) for arriving at some long term solutions. Accountability of banks as well as the govt can also be not ruled out. Our banks’ stressed assets i.e NPAs now stand at 9.6% of our GDP, or about half of Budget 2018. Non-recovery of loans or interest on loans from the borrowers for more than 90 days is considered as Non Performing Asset (NPA) for the banks. That means the loan which does not bring return is an NPA. The banks can neither credit the income nor debit to loss, unless either recovered or identified as loss. Therefore NPAs result from bad loans or when the borrower defaults and thus become bank’s stressed assets. A borrower having multiple accounts, all accounts would be considered NPA if one account becomes NPA. RBI has been pushing the banks for their Asset Quality Review (AQR) to give an exact picture of their NPAs in their Balance Sheets. Raghuram Rajan the ou...

Unnao, Kathua Rape Horrors Point to BJP Shielding the Accused

Beware of crowd. Beware. It has become the tactics of the political parties to plant crowd around you to intimidate you, smother your cry for justice and protect the perpetrators of most heinous crimes and hide them inside its ring of crowd. Beware of crowd. Today crowd is created and maintained in the name of supporters by the politicians to display their power and strength. Crowd was made to surround and sympathise with alleged accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a BJP MLA in Unnao for gang rape of a dalit minor girl. The father of rape victim was thrashed in police custody by the brother of the BJP MLA accused of rape as he had the temerity to complain, and succumbed to his injuries. Many days have passed. The rape incident dates back to June 2017. So far the accused has not been arrested inspite of FIR lodged and the imposition of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for immediate arrest. What does it mean? Are we supposed to accept that law is not applicable on ac...

POLITICS OF COMMUNAL FORCES

What is holding the Government to deal with Anti-India and Communal Forces?? We have been witnessing anti-India activities and propaganda for a long time such as burning of national flag, openly abusing Indian cricket team for defeating Pakistan, distributing sweets after Pakistan’s victory over India etc etc.. The Shahi Imams like Abdullah Bukhari in his speech had declared himself as an ISI agent and dared the government to arrest him. Charge sheet against former Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Abdullah Bukhari in a sedition case for allegedly making anti-national speech will be filed soon as investigation has been completed for disturbing harmony in the society and attempt to instigate a section to wage war against the country. His son now Shahi Imam Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari’s irresponsible statement not only undermines the dignity and respect of the nation but also creates religious and communal mistrust in the largely tolerant society of India. Syed Muhammad Noor u...

POLITICS OF BRAND RAM

I wonder if the present government would have shown same enthusiasm and acted with same zeal and swiftness to insert amendment in name if Dr Ambedkar's father's name would have been other than Ramji!!!! I am not biased. I am critical. I do not look into the past to draw solace in present. Wrong is wrong whether of past or in present. But we must learn to look forward and cease weeping on what happened in the past than direct our awareness and energy to get best in present by not allowing and corrupting our rational sense get overpowered by our sentimental leanings to make us weak and accommodative. It is slavery. The people in power take advantage of this blind following emanating from sentimentality. Time and again I have been saying that today politics is no less than a business. Then why shouldn't we also be business like and monitor their actions and press them to perform with our intelligent dissent. Like it or not our blind following makes the government in power arr...

DISRUPTING PARLIAMEMT

For all these days I’ve been wrestling with my thoughts so as to fathom the psyche of the politicians and the political parties in Opposition who oppose for the sake of opposing any proposal or legislation tabled in the parliament by the ruling govt and thereby they not only try to hold the constitution to ransom but also show their total lack of concern for the hopes and aspirations of people in parliamentary democracy at large.  Yes the logjam – this is what I mean and I touched my concern many a times in my earlier posts but now I would analyze the malady in greater details so as to invite your reactions. One thing we must all know is that constitution of India is very sacrosanct. It is not given by the individual but on the contrary it is given by WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA. And if the parliament stands there it is because of WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA. But unfortunately WE has become I and got limited to individuals and I think individuals do not matter. It is more than this - the p...
