GALWAN VALLEY DEBACLE STILL A MYSTERY

The majority of political leaders are street breed. I do not know how the educated ones become bhakts. What do these politicians think? Are we fools? I can bet on any thing that had any politician been in opposition he would have been on the street with his party jokers the same way as Rahul Gandhi today.  Modi's statement that there was not an inch of Chinese infiltration in Indian territory has been taken by China to say that evenB the PM of India has confirmed China did not enter 2, 3 or 4 km inside Indian territory anywhere as claimed by various sources and face off was just border skirmishes. Modi saab, क्या बोल गये?? बरी कर दिया चीन को। Where our 20 soldiers were martyred? Just keep away for a while from your "friendship" with Chinese President Xi Jinping and your "village connection" since Xuanzang (pronounce as Hyun Sang), famous Chinese traveller who made pilgrimage to your village in India. Please name the location of violent face-off between Indian an...

GIG ECONOMY OF INDIA IS DERAILED

Predicting a “sharp but short” recession, the Morgan Stanley  economists said they expect global GDP growth will be lowest at -8.6% year on year in the second quarter and recover to 3.0% by the first quarter of 2021. Whatever be Morgan Stanley's findings, I don't dispute that. It is for sure India currently faces notable  challenges, due to unmanageable COVID-19 and the preceding slowdown of the informal economy. Eyes of global investors are set on India's big consumer market but the outlook of the the current economic situation is depressing enough to paralyse investors will. The day dreaming response from India's policymakers contributing nothing to ease the current situation that is grim and somber. There is nothing to attract investors into current areas than to wait and watch for an opportunity with focus on calculated long-term themes in India. It is also disheartening that the government has turned her ears deaf not to listen to the experts the world over ...

INDIAN AND CHINESE TROOPS STANDOFF IN LADAKH

As Indian and Chinese troops are in a tense standoff in several areas along the Line of Actual Control (LOA) in mountainous eastern Ladakh for close to four weeks it is for India and China to resolve the row bilaterally and there is no role for any other country. Both the countries are holding talks at military and diplomatic levels to resolve the dispute. The skirmishes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh and Sikkim are far more serious than what we have seen in recent years because they involve a sizeable number of Chinese soldiers who have occupied Indian territory. Last week, US President Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and China to end the face-off. However, both India and China rejected the offer, saying they have bilateral mechanisms to resolve the dispute. However growing assertiveness of China in South China Sea as well as China's plan to enforce a security law in Hong Kong notwithstanding the widespread protests by its citizens are of se...

THE MIGRANTS DID NOT ASK FOR MORE

The Migrants Without Food, Money and Medical Aid in Lockdown Didn't Ask For More… Still The inhuman Hinduvadi Bhagats always hailing Jai Sri Ram have no qualms of shame when they scoff at these shutdown miserables. Factories are shut down after the whole country is locked down.  Thus lockdown displaced lakhs of migrant labours, to be specific 20 lakh in number if Nitin Gadkari's data is to be trusted. I am very sorry to register here my strong objection to insensitive Bhagat's inhuman satircal comments on their plight. Not wrong to draw that these set of malcontent bhagats get encouraged to scoff at the hapless due to  mute response of the government craftily avoiding or may be postponing to help the migrant destitutes with money so as these to be doled out just before assembly elections - yes for buying votes. The whole world media and intellectuals are laughing at India. Simple logic -- had there been election on hand, the very government wouldn't have sit so ...

Not Well Thought Out Stimulus Package

The last full one week of the lockdown 3.0 were marked by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s announcements on the fiscal stimulus package. While she gave away details of the package after the markets closed, the Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) Nifty crashed over 1% every time she announced new set of details. Why are the stock markets disappointed with the stimulus package? Probably many, including top economists don’t think of it as a stimulus. “I am not sure whether I can call these stimuli", Nitin Gadkari said in his interview to CNBC TV18. Govinda Rao, member 14th Finance Commission said "More than Rs 5 lakh crore are pending dues of MSMEs. If only they clear those dues it will be a great stimulus!" In all, the Centre has rolled out the Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus package -- the idea of which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with much fanfare. While this comprises 10% of the GDP, as committed by the government, how much is this act...

Issues Still Remain After 2nd Tranche of Eco Package

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday announced a slew of measures for migrant workers and street vendors; however, how effectively these steps will help the undocumented section can not be determined yet. FM Sitharaman introduced ‘one nation one ration card’ to enable migrant workers from any depot in the country on the same ration card, issued in any state. The workers’ family members’ Aadhar details will be seeded into the ration card, using technology and database. The government also decided to convert the government-funded housing in major cities to affordable rental housing complexes for urban poor migrants. Besides, the government has allowed the state government to use the disaster response fund to arrange food and shelter for the migrant workers, which will incur a cost of Rs 11,000 crore to the centre . Considering the nationwide lockdown has caused the street vendors to earn a zero income, the government has announced a special credit facility of Rs 5,000 crore...
