Modi Government Has Suppressed Uncomfortable Data

Will the government determine how the data should look like? That has what happened in Modi's so called over publicized claim for making corruption free India. PC Mohanan, Vice Chairman and JV Meenakshi, Member of the National Statistical Commission (NSC), resigned from their posts in January this year 2019 as they felt “the commission was being bypassed on several issues” by the government. Mr Mohanan said the panel had finalised the National Sample Survey Office report linked to jobs in December 2018 which was not being released by the government. Government sources said there was a move to wait for data for two more quarters before releasing the report. The two NSC members had also said they were not consulted when the Central Statistics Office released the back series data for GDP. It is also hard to consider the 2015 Central Statistics Office (CSO) data dependable as revised economic output numbers for past years, changing the base year and showing significantly faster

IS MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT A FARCE???

The nation is witnessing blatant violations of model code of conduct by the political leaders and mostly by the ruling BJP and its leaders in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In Train No. 12040 Kathgodam Shatabdi tea was being served in cups which bore the “main bhi chowkidar” slogan of Modi. Air India boarding passes bearing the image of Modi and Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani is a shameful disregard to MCC and daring display of misuse of power. In West Bengal railways distributing tickets with photos of the Prime Minister on it. In many places, government construction sites have billboards with the prime minister’s image on them. Some public service vehicle are seen being used in Delhi for political advertisement of BJP. More than 4,400 FIRs have been registered in Maharashtra since March 11 in connection with violation of the model code of conduct. J-K election department has got nearly 100 complaints of MCC violation. Thus all political parties are into the MCC violations as re

THE DEMOCRACY WE ARE IN.......

People are questioning if we are into fake or real democracy. Well democracy cannot be fake as democracy is run through constitution by and for the people of the country. Hence democracy is a government in itself and constitution stands as vanguard for the nation not to allow the systems to be liberal with democratic principle to run the government as per the letter and spirit of the constitution. It is sad we often see there are violations of constitutional propriety and the system lying deep in slumber for not taking action against the violators. Vishal Singh Rana, one of the key accused in the Akhlaq lynching case was seen sitting in front row, chanting “Yogi Yogi” in the UP Chief Minister Yog Aditya Nath's BJP rally at Bisada village of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Greater Noida), Uttar Pradesh on the fringes of Delhi, held on the 31st March. The choice of this village was significant – it was here that the barbaric lynching of Mohd. Akhlaq took place on September 28, 2015, a

Bluff Politics

Rahul Gandhi's announcement to provide assured annual income of ₹ 72,000/- for  20% of India's poor population is nothing but an attempt at one of the usual election statements (a jumla) to lure voters. Leave aside the burden on country's exchequer of about ₹ 3.60 lakh crore but the fact remains no homework has been done to 1. identify the poor lot and 2. authenticate their income to top up the difference Come election and the political parties are reminded of the poor. In between nobody bothers for the poor. Mrs Indira Gandhi's Garibi Hatao slogan, Modi's ₹ 15 lacs in every Indian's bank account, 2 crore jobs annually to the unemployed, implementation of Swaminathan Commission's recommendations for farmers were just few of the election statements to lure voters. No homework was done to convince the veracity of the announcements made to the nation. ₹ 3.5 lakh crore worth NPAs were waived for the industrialists by Modi government instead. The Congress
