British PM of Indian Origin

Probing The Excitement in India Over a British PM of Indian Origin There is great excitement in India over Rishi Sunak of Indian origin becoming the new British PM. It is also seen as one, the defeat of British colonialism and two, that history has been awarded with justice.  But why are Indians so excited? Is it because Rishi Sunak is the new British PM of Indian Origin? Or the British democracy is so matured that any British citizen can become the PM there irrespective of their family connections, origin, country, race and religion. My question is, are the people of India overwhelmed with joy due to the new British PM Rishi Sunak is of Indian Origin and thereby celebrating the merits and attributes of a matured British democracy? Is their happiness an expression to convey that Indian democracy should also learn from British democracy to follow suit? Do we have the same desire to celebrate our democracy in the same spirit we are so excited about British democracy – especially in a...

Modi Can Only Talk…

Modi Can Only Talk… After Cow now Cheetah is the Latest Animal to Become Sanghi….. Modi never ever even made a symbolic visit to the families of those whose breadwinner met with a casualty while giving an exceptional example of performance while on duty.  Modi was on his monthly-radio programme Mann Ki Baat to convey condolences to the kin of Army personnel who lost their lives in the Galwan valley clash. Leave aside meeting the families of the victims he kept mum over the grief on the Chhattisgarh Maoist attack because Amit Shah spoke!!!!  Modi went to pay homage to martyrs of Pulwama terror attack at Palam airport and did not bother to convey condolences to one bereaved family. Modi was quiet on mob lynching incidents wherein Pehlu Khan of Alwar, Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh of Bulandshahar, Lakhbir Singh of Simbhu Border, Hindu sadhus and their driver in Palghar were lynched. Modi never even stood beside the families of gang raped victims in Kathua, Unnao, Hathrus. In Hyder...

The Pea Brain Duffer Trolls

Arshdeep, the cricketer has been trolled for dropping a catch while playing against Pakistan. What a disservice to the nation. The pea brain, duffer trolls are calling him Khalistani. Even Virat Kohli was trolled when he stood by Mohammed Shami. His new born infant daughter was threatened with rape and murder on social media platforms. Where is law and order? Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan languishing in jail since he was on his way to report the Hathras gang-rape case; Tista Setalvad was arrested for ensuring that several victims of the 2002 Gujarat riots got justice in courts -- the list is unending and I have already discussed in my earlier blogs, but the question is how the offenders of hate troll go unnoticed by crime bureau. These days people feel threatened to question the system and administration for the fear of being arrested. Take it from me that no body will be touched if the troll suits the sick ideology of those sitting at the helm of affairs. ट्रोल निर्मित रिफ़ारवर्ड क...

On Falling Standards of Democracy

Of all the many reasons for the sorry state of our democracy, I think,  education is of paramount importance to run a successful democracy.  Education has long been regarded as one of the prime drivers of  economic growth and making the democracy a success. Over time, many  growth theories have  developed relating human capital and economic growth, thereby underlining the importance of education in the growth process of democracy. The belief that education promotes growth has led governments of many developing countries to invest in the education sector linking it with skill training with assured job opportunities.  Education also helps people in democracy to rationalise their duties with  responsibility. Education helps eradicate superstitions, take personal initiative for population control and sensible use of their democratic rights.  The Government of India too acknowledged the role of education in development immediately after i ndependence i...

ON GANDHIJI'S "EXPENSIVE POVERTY"

A Joke On Gandhiji Blown Out Of Proportion……  The statement, "It needs a lot of money to keep Bapu poor" jokingly once made by Dr Sarojini Naidu, doesn't need much cost-benefit-analysis. Dr Naidu could hardly anticipate that her joke would fan controversy and be blown out of proportion and used to cast doubts on Gandhi’s lifestyle! Gandhiji’s mingling with the common people weren’t just some political stunts as we see today in current politics. Before joining active politics in India, he had travelled across India in those third-class compartments, getting closer to the people, their needs and problems. It made him connect with masses better than any other political leader of the time. No wonder, his movements were not only acknowledged by masses but also supported by them. It was these experiments that converted congress from the party of an elite to the party of the people. And that was something no money could buy. Second important point to note is, Gandhiji never dema...

Democracy Is Now Under Cloud

Democracy is now in danger the world over. Putin and Xi Jinping have ensured their place to hold top power for ever by making amendment in constitution. In India the same dose of intoxicants are being administered to a crowd of supporters for a blind support to a single party. The opposition has never been projected as villain and redundant through so aggressive propaganda ever before. Our democracy is also, in fact, in danger.
