Truth Behind CBI Reshuffle

What irked the PMO for the unprecedented removal of or to be exact asked to go on leave the serving CBI Director Alok Verma? That too despite the law granting him a fixed tenure of not less than two years. Yes this is the pertinent question that every educated and knowledgeable citizen must ask.

And you all seems to have missed this point as it has already been challenged in Supreme Court.

What all CBI has always been suffering from is too much control of the Centre to influence and use the investigation agency as per their will. Therefore the appointments are also made to suit the government in power. When Alok Verma objected to the appointment of Rakesh Asthana as CBI Special Director Pramod Kumar Mishra in PMO had summoned the Central Vigilance Commissioner,  K.V. Chowdary, and directed him to ensure Asthana was appointed.

Why the CBI not allowed to proceed with her investigation and FIR registered against the agency Number Two man Rakesh Asthana for alleged bribery, extortion and corruption case? The removal of the entire investigating team may also help in the removal of all incriminating evidences collected not only to book the insiders as culprit but also their link with the power circle in PMO.

The reason is obvious. The investigation needed to be aborted in the interest of PMO than for public interest. So what intimidated the PMO is the name of PM Narendra Modi linked with the turmoil in CBI.

There are several names like Devender Kumar, Manoj and Somesh Prasad and exporter Moin Qureshi associating with illegal gratification and money laundering cases linked to Rakesh Asthana and FIR was filed on the bases of complaint by Hyderabad-based businessman Sathish Babu Sana. So why the investigation was not allowed to continue? The reason being not just Alok Verma's request for sanction to arrest an official considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also his interest in the controversial Rafale deal.

The Supreme Court has asked the government to inform it of the procedures it has followed in the entire aircraft deal. Alok Verma too had begun the process of looking at some of the Rafale deal documents and reportedly wanted the defence ministry to authenticate them. Verma’s interest in the Rafale deal seemed dangerous and really upset the prime minister and his closest aide in the government, national security advisor Ajit Doval cannot be denied and the reason sufficient to remove the CBI director.

To refresh the memory of you all the CBI
row also points towards top PMO official linked to CBI's probe into coal block allocation case. Conflicting views emerged on how to handle Bhaskar Khulbe, secretary in PMO and one of the trusted aides of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when Alok Verma-headed-CBI team recommended that Khulbe be made an accused, just as former Union coal secretary H.C. Gupta had been in a Jharkhand coal block allocation case. Gupta was convicted in December 2017 and sentenced to a three-year prison term. Khulbe was saved by Asthana by suggesting the PMO to make him a witness than accused. Asthana’s stand was hardly a surprise, given his proximity to Pramod Kumar Mishra, Additional Principal Secretary and a close aide to PM Modi. Further PNB scam also exposed the role of corporates influencing CBI and hand-in-glove of Asthana to forward the benefits to BJP and his own flashy style of living was ignored by PMO inspite of being so conspicuous.

The CBI's internal row has taken a new dimensions of exposing and establishing complicity of RAW, IB and Enforcement Directorate with the PMO for encouraging high level corruption and illegal gratification.

Alok Verma's 2 year term completes on January 2019. PMO could not wait till January tells alot about PM Modi's restlessness.
