GOVERNMENT AIDED DEGRADATION IN INDIAN SOCIAL MEDIA
The nation is witnessing a painful degradation in Indian social media. It seems most of Indian media houses are also existing, as if, to run and promote government agenda of one sided hate campaigns and blame charges without fact verifications. Taking a bit further we see on the other hand the level of sensibility in reporting is gravely lacking and raising issues with plausible facts and logic which no TV channel has so far countered to prove lie manufacturing channels.
Just a few examples...
When the whole media was condemning Shaheen Bagh gathering and it's agitation as communal outcry to arm twist the government to take back CAA, people like us stood firm by hilts to define the agitation a sit-in peaceful protest, led by women. In India the Constitution allows its citizens the right to protest peaceful.
When the majority media with government's dog collar around its neck were busy to misguide the nation with communal colour and howling at the entire muslim community through Shaheen Bagh protesters as anti national, gaddar and what not, we took a firm stand to support social agitation of Shaheen Bagh gathering for their right to protest.
Similar such social movement for right to protest was organised once by adivasis, farmers, environmentalists and human right activists and especially the
women for Narmada Bachao Andolan spear headed by Medha Patkar and Baba Amte. And it continued for 3 years (1989 to 1993). No one then condemned the protesters as anti national.
Even Hawa Singh Sangwan led Jat reservation movement that turned violent and paralysed the state of Haryana for 10 days.
Mahendra Singh Tikait, a farmer leader held many protest rallies to agitate for the cause of farmers on the roads to Parliament and India Gate in Delhi.
Gujjar leader Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla protested for reservation by holding a ‘Maha Panchayat’ at Malarna Dungar in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, started the sit-in protest along with his supporters on the railway tracks near Malarna Dungar railway station, blocking the Delhi-Mumbai railway route.
No media at that time condemned these protesters as anti-national inspite of Hawa Singh Sangwan once even called Haryana CM Khattar a Pakistani.
Are we wrong to ask if only the Hindus have the right to protest to the extent of even driving the agitation to a level of riot and large scale violence? Only the Hindus do have the right to organise public meetings to counter peaceful agitation with inflammatory, "देश के गद्दारों को, गोली मारो सालो को" speeches.
Still the agitators maintained their poise.
Such discriminatory arse licking media houses are exposed by intellectuals like us everyday. The government is asked bold questions by us on every occasion -- all because we do not have to run for TRP standards like hungry media houses nor are we like those journalist members who are afraid of losing their jobs. On closer analysis hypocrisy, vested interest of the media houses, the government and a sea of blind followers conspicuously come to light when lies are spread, hate machinery is created to malign the dignity of an individual in the name of religious prejudices. What is wrong if someone is served with or eating biryani when the Bengalis eat non veg throughout navaratri no one objects. In the puja pandal complex, refreshments canteens sell meat and fish chops and other non veg items even through muslim caterers no one objects. People will eat what they wish to. Why to discriminate?
