Pegasus Spyware -- Attack on Our Democracy

The news of Pegasus' attack to monitor the opposition, media persons and journalists in a country under troubled economic conditions is terrifying.  This is a sad and shocking story about trampling democracy through the back door of thieves to soil the institution.

The espionage of the phone from Pegasus is not only about stealing information, but also about framing innocents on charges of murder and terrorism.  Anyway, in the absence of correct information and in a country where uncomfortable data are not disclosed to citizens, in such a democracy a citizen is not a citizen.

If India's applause has been printed in newspapers around the world with Rwanda, Azerbaijan, countries that spy on their people and you consider it applause, then let you thrive on the illusion and perish.  The biggest thing to understand in the context of the Pegasus spying case is that such software or spyware poses a threat not only to the people and institutions associated with the sources to collect information, but also with the bigger danger of fear spread among the investigative journalists, the social activists and the opposition.  The impact of spying on Indian democracy will further weaken our democracy.

It is beyond understanding that spying on a citizen in democracy!!!!  It's a great shame that we have made our democracy so vulnerable to those fascist forces that citizens are not concerned about the attack on their citizenship rights.  This deepens the distrust in the government at least among those who still can read the nefarious intentions of the government.

Will a citizen have to pay such a huge price for questioning the government, a journalist for writing a news story and activists exposing the atrocities on the poor, denied and marginalized?  Do we have to read the news written by slave journalists and still pay for newspapers, journals, magazines and media channels to gather sieved knowledge and information that are written under duress and allowed to share upto a level as the government's mouthpiece? If not, then should we not buy subscriptions for such information tools that follow the dictates of the government!!!!

So will you as a citizen just keep quiet?  Your survival status as a citizen has dropped to such a low that you just keep trolling forwards and re-forwards just as blind transporters of government propaganda???  Who cares for democracy!!!!!  If for you it's over, let it be so.  Who cares!!!! So remain under threat and fear, be afraid not to speak and prefer to stay dead to save those who really deserved to be jailed.
