Agniveer -- Exploiting The Poor And Helpless Rural Youth

Exploiting The Poor And Helpless Rural Youth

Agnipath is a major defence policy reform of the government for recruitment of soldiers, sailors and airmen into the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The soldiers recruited thus under the scheme on a short-term contractual basis will be called Agniveers. The scheme will help cut the rising salary and pension bill of the armed forces as 75% of the jawans shown the doors after 4 years will not be entitled for post retirement benefits like pension and medical facilities.

We all must stand for applying the same service norms for all  — from block level to municipality to state MLA-MLC and to MPs. They should be allowed to remain in office after a year of  their performance. Those eliminated should not be entitled for any post retirement benefits. We must raise our nationwide demand for implementation. The point is that RSS, BJP and Modi have lost their credibility. They lie a lot, and Modi in particular. There is a severe trust deficit which even the bhagats know but may not agree openly. A well laid out documented job security is of prime concern for the youth seeking a job. Any verbal assurance is viewed with doubt because of Modi's track record of lying ever since he assumed power. This is the only reality.

One from the "chowkidar" community announces jobs of chowkidars for the 27 year old retired soldiers to guard the BJP offices!!!

Any enlightened welfare state is like an umbilical cord attached to their employees like a mother. There is no well drawn out plan to take care of the Agniveer from womb to tomb. Agniveer sees no job security plan of the government. On the top of it are lies after lies volleyed out instead, by none other than top leaders like the PM of India. This shows the government knows how to exploit the helpless youths of the rural poor. The government postponed recruitment of jawans due to COVID in 2019 but election rallies, Kumbh gatherings and dharam sansads were allowed to happen unhindered in spite of the pandemic. Hence the commotion, unrest and protests are obvious expressions of their frustration. The youth is feeling cheated. Their morale is down. With this condition of mind they may resign to whatever is available to them in the difficult job market to get something to face unemployment and poverty. Those 75% who will be out of job after 4 years will be again job seekers as retired army personnel of 27 years with trade experience of a cook or his helper or a steward or a tent erector or a batman or a dhobi or belt and shoe shiner or a driver or a dog escort or a mali!!!! Are these the skills the private sector or corporate houses are looking for befitting a job of a peon in a retired jawan to serve them with tea or water or a disciplined doorman in their offices????
